Assam Police Officer Arrested for Alleged Involvement with Woman

An officer of the Sipajhar Police Station in Assam's Darrang district has been arrested by a team from Fakirgram Police Station in Kokrajhar on Tuesday morning for allegedly being physically involved with a woman under the pretext of love. The accused Sub-Inspector, identified as Nitai Roy, was apprehended based on a complaint filed by the woman. Last year, another Sub-Inspector of Hojai Police Station was suspended for allegedly abusing a journalist. The Superintendent of Police, Varun Purkayastha, had taken swift action in suspending the officer following a written complaint lodged by the District Journalists Association, which was appreciated by the Hojai Journalists Association.
