In the ongoing effort to crackdown on illegal gambling and betting during the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Bongaigaon Police conducted a successful raid in Jogighopa on Tuesday. Under the leadership of the Officer-in-Charge, the Jogighopa Police arrested eight individuals from various gambling establishments in the area. The arrested individuals have been identified as Shah Alam, Ashmat Ali, Abdul Rashid, Abdul Rahman, Abdur Rahim, Saiful Islam, Rashidul Islam and Dulal Mazumdar.
During the raid, the police seized Rs. 20,000 in cash, four motorcycles, and cards from the possession of the eight individuals. Legal procedures have been initiated against them.
In another incident, the Hojai Police arrested five gamblers from Lanka during a crackdown on gamblers and betting. The police seized Rs. 8 lakh in cash and four mobile phones from their possession and registered a case against them.
The police continue to take strict action against illegal gambling and betting during the IPL and urge the public to refrain from participating in such activities.
