On Tuesday, sources reported that an avalanche hit the Darchula district of far-west Nepal, potentially burying at least eight people. Rescue operations are currently underway, with a team of Armed Police Force and police deployed at Darchula. The individuals who are missing have not been identified yet, but they are believed to be yarsagumba collectors who were sheltering in a tent when the avalanche occurred.

Last month, an avalanche hit the northeastern state of Sikkim, killing at least six people during the afternoon. According to reports, the avalanche occurred at 15th Mile on the Jawaharlal Nehru road connecting Gangtok with Nathula in Sikkim, and a dozen people sustained injuries.
