In a shocking incident in Delhi, a 16-year-old Hindu girl was brutally stabbed to death, allegedly by her boyfriend, who is believed to be around 20 years old. The tragic incident took place on Sunday, according to the local police.
The accused, identified as Sahil, was apprehended in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, a few hours after the gruesome crime occurred. The entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera and shared online, adding to the shock and horror surrounding the case.
Reports suggest that the victim girl left her residence in the evening when she was intercepted by her alleged boyfriend. He cornered her against a wall, repeatedly stabbed her, and even threw a large stone at her body.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Raja Banthia, stated, "The girl was brought dead, and a post-mortem examination is underway. She sustained multiple injuries, having been stabbed over 20 times."
The accused, Sahil, aged 20, is being pursued by six police teams, with the cooperation of his parents, and is expected to be apprehended soon, Banthia added.
Tragically, no passersby intervened or raised an alarm as the young girl lay on the road, subjected to the brutal assault. The attacker continued his assault for nearly 90 seconds before finally leaving the scene.
The horrifying crime occurred within the jurisdiction of Shahbad Dairy Police Station in Delhi, and the girl's lifeless body was discovered on the streets. According to news agency PTI, the accused and the victim had a previous altercation on Saturday.
Political figures have expressed their dismay over the incident. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party, lamented, "A minor girl is brutally murdered openly in Delhi. This is very sad and unfortunate. The criminals have become fearless, there is no fear of the police. LG sir, law and order is your responsibility, do something. Safety of the people of Delhi is paramount..."
Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj also voiced his concern, stating, "If the LG saab is not doing his work, then what is his responsibility? The law and order situation in Delhi has reached the lowest level. There is open bloodshed. Even today, the incident in Shahabad is very shameful. LG saab has completely failed."
