Dibrugarh: In a developing case, the investigation team from West Bengal, accompanied by representatives from IIT Kharagpur, arrived in Assam's Dibrugarh district on May 23 to collect the mortal remains of Faizan Ahmed, a student of IIT Kharagpur.
However, tensions escalated when the family members of the deceased objected to the presence of the IIT Kharagpur representatives at the graveyard, leading them to be asked to leave the site.
The family members have raised allegations of attempted influence on the investigation by IIT Kharagpur, adding to the complexity of the situation.
To proceed with the process, the mortal remains of Faizan Ahmed were transported to Kolkata. The family members, accompanied by the West Bengal Police team, arrived at Mohanbari airport at 7 am, where the body was prepared for transportation.
The parents of Faizan, along with one West Bengal Police officer, will be flying with the body on Indigo flight no. 6E - 6873 at 11 am. Meanwhile, the remaining three West Bengal Police personnel will depart for Kolkata on Air India flight no. AI 734 at 1:35 pm.
As per the directions of the Calcutta High Court, the body will be handed over to Kolkata Medical College for a second post-mortem examination, furthering the legal proceedings surrounding the case.
The controversy surrounding the collection of Faizan Ahmed's remains highlights the sensitivity and complexity of the investigation, with the involvement of multiple parties and the need to ensure a fair and unbiased examination of the circumstances leading to his untimely demise.
