ISRO prepares for the launch of the Aditya-L1 Solar Mission

 Aditya-L1

Andhra Pradesh: Preparations are underway at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) as they gear up for the upcoming launch of their ambitious solar mission, Aditya-L1, scheduled for tomorrow, September 2nd. The commencement of the countdown for this launch is set to take place today, on September 1st.

Aditya-L1 marks a significant milestone as India's inaugural space-based observatory dedicated to studying the sun. The launch is slated to occur from the Sriharikota space station, located in Andhra Pradesh, with liftoff scheduled for 11:50 a.m. IST. The satellite will be positioned within a halo orbit encircling Lagrange point L1 within the Sun-Earth system, approximately 1.5 million kilometers away from Earth.

The journey to reach Lagrange Point L1 will encompass approximately four months. The strategic placement of the satellite within a halo orbit at the L1 point affords the advantage of unobstructed solar observations, free from interference by celestial events such as eclipses.

Aditya-L1's primary mission is centered around the comprehensive study of solar phenomena, particularly solar winds and the sun's atmosphere. The mission payload consists of seven distinct instruments designed to observe various layers of the sun, including the photosphere, chromosphere, and outermost corona. The insights gleaned from these observations will deepen our understanding of crucial topics such as coronal heating, coronal mass ejections, pre-flare and flare activities, weather dynamics, and the behavior of particles and fields within the interplanetary medium.

In an inclusive move, ISRO has extended an invitation to the public to witness the momentous launch of PSLV-C57 from the dedicated viewing gallery at Sriharikota. Those interested in being a part of this event can register through the following link: lvg.shar.gov.in/VSCREGISTRATION
