Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated National Technology Day on Thursday by laying the foundation stones and inaugurating multiple scientific and technological advancement projects in India, worth over Rs. 5800 crore. The projects include the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory-India (LIGO-India) in Hingoli, Maharashtra; the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Jatni, Odisha; and the Platinum Jubilee Block of Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai.
The PM launched the projects in line with his vision of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' (self-reliant India), emphasizing the strengthening of scientific institutions in the country. The PM also dedicated several other projects to the nation, including the Fission Molybdenum-99 Production Facility in Mumbai; Rare Earth Permanent Magnet Plant in Visakhapatnam; National Hadron Beam Therapy Facility in Navi Mumbai; Radiological Research Unit in Navi Mumbai; Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Visakhapatnam; and the Women & Children Cancer Hospital Building in Navi Mumbai.
During the event, PM Modi said that May 11 is one of the most prestigious days in Indian history. He spoke about India's nuclear testing in Pokhran, which took place on this day in 1998 and made the entire nation proud. The PM said that the Pokhran Nuclear Testing not only helped India prove its scientific capabilities but also boosted the country's global stature.
PM Modi conveyed his greetings to every citizen on the occasion of National Technology Day.
