Shubman Gill Creates History with Century in Test, ODIs, T20Is, and IPL in a Year

Shubman Gill Creates History

In a sensational display of cricketing prowess, India's rising star Shubman Gill etched his name in the annals of cricketing history by becoming the first player ever to score a century in Test matches, One Day Internationals (ODIs), Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), and the Indian Premier League (IPL) all within a single calendar year. Gill's extraordinary feat was achieved during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he unleashed a scintillating innings of 101 runs off just 58 balls at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium on Monday, solidifying his remarkable legacy. This remarkable achievement marks a glorious start to Gill's year, joining the elite ranks of a select few who have registered a double century in ODIs. His monumental knock of 208 runs off a mere 149 deliveries against New Zealand in Hyderabad set the tone for a year of astonishing performances.

True to form, Gill showcased his prowess in the T20I format as well, treating fans to his maiden century against New Zealand in Ahmedabad. His unbeaten 126 off 99 balls, delivered at a stunning strike rate of 200, captivated audiences and further cemented his reputation as a force to be reckoned with.

Continuing his remarkable run, Gill also notched a century in the test format at the same venue, mesmerizing spectators during the match against Australia with his innings of 128 runs.

In the ongoing IPL season, Gill's scorching form has been nothing short of sensational. With an impressive tally of 576 runs from 13 matches, he boasts an average of 48.00 and a formidable strike rate of 146.19. The young maestro has amassed four centuries and one hundred, solidifying his position as one of the tournament's standout performers.

In a thrilling encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Shubman Gill's breathtaking century and Mohamad Shami's exceptional bowling display propelled the Gujarat Titans to a resounding 34-run victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. With this triumph, the Gujarat Titans became the first team to secure a spot in the playoffs. With nine wins and four losses, they currently occupy the top spot on the table with a total of 18 points. In contrast, Sunrisers Hyderabad languish second to last in the standings with eight points, having secured four victories and suffered eight defeats.

Opting to bat first, the Gujarat Titans posted an imposing total of 188/9, largely thanks to Shubman Gill's scintillating IPL century. Young sensation Sai Sudharsan also contributed significantly with a knock of 47 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivered an outstanding bowling performance for Sunrisers Hyderabad, claiming five wickets at the cost of just 30 runs. Fazalhaq Farooqi, T Natarajan, and Marco Jansen provided support by each taking a wicket.

Chasing a target of 189 runs, the Gujarat Titans' opening bowlers wreaked havoc on the Sunrisers' batting lineup, dismissing Anmolpreet Singh and Abhishek Sharma early on. Struggling to recover from a poor start, Sunrisers Hyderabad found themselves reeling at 45/4 at the conclusion of the powerplay. Despite a valiant effort from Heinrich Klaasen, who fought hard to score 64 runs off 44 balls, the team fell short of the target as wickets tumbled at regular intervals. The Sunrisers ultimately managed a total of 154/9, unable to chase down the formidable total set by the Gujarat Titans.
