
Johannesburg: On Thursday, August 24, Cyril Ramaphosa, the President of South Africa and Chairperson of BRICS, revealed that during a three-day conference in Johannesburg, the group extended invitations to Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates to join as full members of the bloc starting January 1, 2024. The primary focus of this meeting is on deliberations regarding the enlargement of the BRICS alliance. The current composition of the BRICS comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
