Over half of Twitter Blue's earliest subscribers, who paid $8 a month, have reportedly cancelled their subscriptions and stopped using the blue check marks, according to a Mashable report citing data scraped by independent researcher Travis Brown. Out of around 150,000 early Twitter Blue subscribers, only 68,157 remain subscribed as of April 30. This is an unusually high churn rate for an online subscription service. Previously, Twitter Blue temporarily disabled new signups for about a month shortly after its November launch because accounts signed up for Blue with the intent to impersonate major brands on the platform. Reports last year showed that a total of 150,000 users had originally signed up for Twitter Blue within a few days of its launch. About half of all paid Twitter subscribers (about 220,132 users) have less than 1,000 followers. In India, Twitter users must pay INR 900 a month (or INR 9,400 a year) to get Blue Verified status.
