A resident of Guwahati, Saubhagya Sharma, was named the Youngest Philanthropist of the Year for Animal Welfare at the Global Excellence Awards 2023 in Mumbai. The award was presented to her by Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit Nene, an animal lover. Saubhagya has volunteered with renowned national and international NGOs such as The Federation of Indian Animals Protection Organisations (FIAPO), Peta India, and PFA. From her early teens, she has been fostering stray animals and volunteering at animal shelters, orphanages, and old-age homes. Saubhagya completed a diploma in animal communication and psychology from the University of Wales, UK, and Akshaya Kawle's Celtic Learning Solution in Mumbai. She has turned vegan and has conducted various awareness campaigns and activism events, rescued and vaccinated more than 800 strays in the country, and aims to be the voice for all the voiceless, promoting compassion over cruelty.
