According to recent reports, the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) is set to terminate the employment of 771 individuals who were allegedly recruited without following due procedure. Sources indicate that during the tenure of Anand Prakash Tiwari and Khagendra Nath Chetia as Managing Directors, a total of 2,274 employees were hired without adhering to proper protocols.
An official notice states, "Regarding the engagement of contractual staff, it has been alleged that all 2,274 staff members were recruited without following due procedure, including the absence of reservation policies and interviews. This matter requires investigation, and if found true, a Show Cause notice will be issued to the former MD of ASTC for violating government norms. Departmental proceedings will be initiated against such individuals."
The notice further explains, "Following the inquiry and assessment, the Transport department will review the current contractual staff of ASTC, retaining only essential employees who were lawfully appointed. Other staff members will be released immediately thereafter. This process is expected to be completed within 60 days."
The ASTC's decision to terminate the illegally recruited employees highlights their commitment to upholding proper procedures and maintaining compliance with government regulations.
