In an exciting development, seven cheetahs have been successfully reintroduced into the wild at Kuno National Park (KNP) in Madhya Pradesh's Sheopur district, as confirmed by an official report. The Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Prakash Kumar Verma revealed that Neerva, a 3–4-year-old female cheetah from South Africa, was released on Sunday evening from a larger enclosure within KNP. While 10 cheetahs still remain in the larger enclosures, the steering committee appointed by the Centre will determine the fate of the remaining cheetahs. A visit to KNP by committee members is scheduled for Tuesday. This initiative marks a significant milestone in the comprehensive project to reintroduce cheetahs, which began last year with the arrival of eight Namibian cheetahs.
