Five arrested for double murder in Dhubri


Dhubri: Five people have been arrested in connection with the gruesome double murder of a couple in Dhubri district, Assam. The victims, Narjina Begum and Shahjahal Hussain, were found dead in their home in the Kurshakti area of Raniganj on August 26.

The five arrested suspects are Amir Hussain, Aminul Haque, Afsar Ali, Hamidul Islam, and Rakidul Haque. They are all residents of Dhubri district. The police are interrogating them to get more information about the murders.


The motive for the murders is still unclear, but the police are reportedly investigating a property dispute as a possible cause. The couple's daughter, who lives in Guwahati, had called them repeatedly on the day of the murders but did not get a response. She then called the neighbours, who found the bodies.


The Superintendent of Police of Dhubri, Navin Singh, said that the police have arrested the five suspects and they will be produced in court later today. He added that the police are committed to solving the case and bringing the perpetrators to justice.


The double murder has shocked the residents of Dhubri district.
