The Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) held its 65th Annual General Meeting at the AOA Conference hall on Saturday, with outgoing president Pulak Goswami presiding over the three-hour session. New office bearers were elected without opposition, with the new president, Paresh Chandra Das, saying that they are eager to develop various sports under the GSA. Das also stated their plan to revive the Bordoloi Trophy, with a meeting to be organized to gather suggestions from former players and sports organizers. The GSA team will also confer the life membership of the association to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The association has set an example by electing new office bearers unopposed, said newly elected secretary Devajit Saikia. A committee has been formed to amend the GSA constitution to give equal status to all sports disciplines under the association. The meeting also saw last season's champions and runners-up in both the Super Division Football League and 'A' Division Football League receive their trophy and cash awards.
The newly elected committee for 2023-25 includes Paresh Chandra Das as president, Bhola Boro, Raj Kakoti, and Prasanna Bora (Institution) as vice presidents, Devajit Saikia as general secretary, Amiyo Kumar Kalita as treasurer, Kajal Paul Choudhury as joint secretary, Bablu Choudhury and Siddhartha Sankar Deka as assistant general secretaries, L Pranab Singh as football secretary, Nasir Gul Khan as cricket secretary, Pradip Sarma as volleyball secretary, Gitartha Das as table tennis secretary, M Ranjit Singha as badminton secretary, Raghabendra Mazumdar as athletics secretary, Manash Nandi as hockey secretary, and Manjit Hazarika as basketball secretary.
