Several reports confirm the transfer of the Superintendents of Police (SP) in Nagaon and Lakhimpur districts of Assam on Saturday. Bedanta Madhab Rajkhowa, SP of Lakhimpur, and Leena Doley, SP of Nagaon, were transferred amidst an ongoing investigation into the high-profile death case of sub-inspector Junmoni Rabha in a tragic accident.
Assam's Director General of Police (DGP), Gyanendra Pratap Singh, officially announced their transfers during a press conference. DGP GP Singh mentioned that the transfer proposal for both SPs had been submitted for approval on May 9.
The unfortunate incident occurred on May 16 when Junmoni Rabha, a sub-inspector (SI) of Assam Police, lost her life in a road accident in Nagaon district. The collision took place between the vehicle Rabha was traveling in and an oncoming container truck on National Highway 37 near Sarubhagia village. The impact of the accident was severe, leading to the complete destruction of the vehicle. Local police promptly arrived at the scene and rushed Rabha to Kaliabor Sub-Divisional Civil Hospital, but she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Following the incident, Nagaon SP Leena Doley arrived at the accident site to assess the situation. Reports indicate that Rabha was driving towards Upper Assam in civilian clothing around 2 am when the accident occurred.
Due to the emergence of multiple angles in the case, the investigation was handed over to CID Assam Police, drawing significant attention from the public.
