In a significant development, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption in Assam has successfully apprehended two Lat Mandals involved in bribery. The arrested individuals have been identified as Jalaluddin Sheikh from Bhuragaon Revenue Circle in Morigaon and Diganta Baruah from Nazira Revenue Circle in Sivasagar.
Jalaluddin Sheikh was captured at his residence after accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000. The bribe was given in exchange for issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for a brick kiln. Similarly, Diganta Baruah was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe for providing a trace map and land holding number certificate.
Sharing the news on Twitter, IPS Surendra Kumar stated, "Today, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption trapped Jalaluddin Sheikh, a Lot Mandal from Bhuragaon Revenue Circle, Morigaon, at his residence. He was caught immediately after accepting Rs. 20,000/- as a bribe for issuing an NOC for a brick kiln."
He further added, "In another operation today, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption trapped Diganta Baruah, a Lot Mandal from Nazira Revenue Circle, Sivasagar. He was caught red-handed after accepting a bribe for issuing a trace map and land holding number certificate."
These arrests highlight the ongoing efforts to combat corruption and ensure a transparent system in Assam. The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption's swift action demonstrates their commitment to upholding integrity and maintaining the trust of the public.
