The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced that it is considering criminal and disciplinary action against two candidates who have falsely claimed to be selected in the civil services examination. The UPSC CSE 2022 results were officially declared on May 23, bringing this matter to light.
In a notice issued by the UPSC, it was revealed that two individuals have been fraudulently asserting that they were finally recommended by the UPSC in the Civil Services Examination 2022, using the roll numbers of genuinely recommended candidates. The claims made by these individuals are entirely false, as they have forged documents to support their unfounded assertions.
The UPSC has emphasized that its system is highly robust and foolproof, making such errors or manipulations impossible. To dispel any doubts, the UPSC has shared the details of all candidates, both genuine and fraudulent. Ayesha Fatima, daughter of Naziruddin, is a legitimate candidate who achieved an All India Rank (AIR) of 184, with the roll number 7811744.
On the contrary, Aysha Makrani, daughter of Salimmuddin Makrani, appeared for the preliminary examination but scored only 22.22 marks in General Studies paper 1 and 21.09 marks in General Studies paper 2. Makrani fell significantly short of the minimum required marks, as she needed a score of at least 66 in paper 2. The UPSC notification stated, "She not only failed to qualify in Paper-II but also scored far below the cut-off marks of Paper-I, which were 88.22 for the unreserved category in the Preliminary Examination of the year 2022." Her roll number was 7805064.
Similarly, Tushar Kumar, son of Ashwini Kumar Singh from Bihar, is a genuine candidate who secured an impressive AIR 44, with the roll number 1521306.
The other candidate named Tushar, son of Brijmohan from Rewari Haryana, was assigned the roll number 2208860. He appeared for the preliminary examination and received minus (-) 22.89 marks in General Studies paper 1 and 44.73 marks in General Studies paper 2. Like Makrani, he too fell short of the required marks, as a minimum score of 66 in paper 2 was necessary. As a result, he did not progress beyond the preliminary stage.
The UPSC has stated that the two candidates who falsely claimed selection have "acted in contravention of the provisions of the rules of Civil Services Examination, 2022." The commission is currently contemplating appropriate action against them, both in terms of criminal charges and disciplinary measures.
